Studying
English at the University of
Edinburgh gives you an excellent
opportunity to explore Edinburgh
and Scotland. During the summer
we run a busy social programme
so there is plenty of opportunity
to discover the tourist attractions
and sights of Scotland.
If you study with us September
to June we also run social activities
and tours. Full details
of what's happening are promoted
throughout the school and there
are lots of opportunities to
sign up for events.
Full
Day Tours (£25)
Some of the most popular trips
include St Andrews, Falkland
Palace and
Stirling Castle. These
tours take place on Saturdays.
Half
Day Tours
(£6 - £12) During
the week most students have
a half day on Wednesday as classes
only take place in the morning.
This is when most half day tours
take place.
Afternoon
& Evening Activities
(free - £6)
When class finishes at 3.40
there's still plenty of time
to do things. If you don't
head straight to the Self Access
Centre
for more study there are regular
free talks on Scottish history,
culture and storytelling.
In the evenings look out for
Ghost Tours in Edinburgh's spooky
Old Town or the ever popular
'Beerienteering' and the International
Party.
Finally the highlight of any
course with us is the Ceilidh
(traditional Scottish dance
/ party). In preparation for
this event we run Scottish dancing
lessons so you can hit the floor
dancing!

Monthly
Events Leaflet
In
addition to our regular
Social Programme calendar,
we produce a 'Monthly
Locals Leaflet' which
lists events that students
can attend in Edinburgh
to meet friendly local
people.
